Biography 2

After leaving the Junior College I started a career in the airline business that lasted 42 years.  I started with Eastern Air Lines working in the Merchandise Mart. This was interrupted by two years in the U.S. Army.  I was stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas and then in Vietnam. In 1966 I left Eastern and moved to the Virgin Islands where I joined Pan Am.  During my stay in the Virgin Islands, which lasted 9 years, I was married and two of my three children were born there. Later I moved to Seattle for a few years and then to the San Francisco Bay area  where I lived for 27 years and my second son was born. During this time Pan Am went bankrupt and I was hired by Delta where I worked until my retirement in 2005. 

During my airline career I mainly worked in sales calling on travel agents and corporate accounts.

My 2nd son was born in Walnut Creek, CA.

When I retired my wife and I determined we could not retire in California due primarily to the high cost of housing.  We moved to Green Valley, Az. which is south of Tucson. 

 It has been adventure since I left the Junior College. Visited So many states in the U.S., Traveled to Europe, ( London, Shannon, Dublin, Paris, Madrid, Rome, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Munich, saw rural Japan. Spent a few days in Saigon. Vacationed in Hawaii, trips to Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Panama.  Also took a few cruises.  Lived in the Virgin Islands, Seattle, San Francisco and now Arizona.  Oh Yes, I got to see a lot of California – From the Northern Border to the Southern Border. (California is so diverse it is amazing)

My current parish, San Martin de Porres [archive.org website copy] was recently upgraded from a mission church (2002).  I created the current website that is now maintained by the parish office. 

San Martin is very small but during the winter it becomes very crowded due to all the snowbirds that come from the northern states.  We were very fortunate to have another priest assigned to us when the prior pastor retired.  The Tucson diocese has about 13 seminarians at this time.

I am also a three time cancer survivor.  I am still in recovery from the third operation which included radiation and chemo.  Parts of my hair are temporarily gone so don't be shocked when you see me.
